  Information Committee
Policy:
The UHMIS Information Committee will approve all major UHMIS policy decisions and act as the forum for participating agencies to raise policy issues.
Responsibilities:
The Information Committee will support the overall UHMIS initiative and advise the Lead Agency on UHMIS operations and setting policy. The Information Committee shall meet at least quarterly, at which time UHMIS decisions can be raised for discussion and/or approval. The Information Committee shall designate a committee or task group to develop and help enforce the implementation of UHMIS policies.
The Information Committee’s primary role is to guide policy-making for the UHMIS project. The Information Committee, with representation from Utah Issues, the Salt Lake County Continuum of Care, Balance of State Continuum of Care, Mountainlands Continuum of Care, Utah Department of Community and Economic Development, Domestic Violence, and other service providers has the authority to approve final decisions on the selected key issues.
These issues include:
- Selecting vendors (software vendors, managing agency, contractors);
- Determining funding process, selection body to apply for Supportive Housing Project (SHP) dollars for funding the HMIS project;
- Determining the guiding principles that underlie the UHMIS implementation activities
- Setting and enforcing minimum data collection requirements;
- Encouraging continuum-wide provider participation;
- Defining participation agreements and options;
- Deciding on options regarding database management, hosting, and software upgrades;
- Defining privacy protection policies for UHMIS implementation;
- Defining criteria, standards, and parameters for the usage and release of all data collected;
- Compiling and analyzing UHMIS data with other provider and community data sources;
- Approving budgets, including the annual budget and recommendations for funding request to HUD and other funding agencies;
- Staffing for the UHMIS project;
- Determining desired project outcomes and reporting; and
- Disseminating information to the State Homeless Coordinating Council (HCC), the HCC Information Systems Sub-committees, and to the Continuum of Care agencies.
